Description

On November 10, 2005, as the Vacheron Constantin celebrated its 250 years of uninterrupted activity, Vacheron Constantin was awarded for the second time the highest award of the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix, the Golden Needle. The winning watch, the Tour de l'Île, became the most complicated series bracelet in the world. 834 components in a 47 mm diameter and 17.8 mm thick case, a unique combination on two sides of 16 horological complications and astronomical indications ranging from the minute repeater to sunset time, via the perpetual calendar, a second time zone, a tourbillon, the equation of time and a sky chart.

The Tour de l’Île, also represents more than 10,000 hours of research and development, a technical and esthetical prowess, produced in 7 copies, the 8th being reserved for the Vacheron Constantin private collection. Each watch has its personalized dial with an exclusive guilloche pattern on the back. The first timepiece was sold at auction for 1,876,250 francs at Antiquorum.
