MING 17.06 Copper: Affordably Exclusive

It is impossible for us to forget the response to our maiden 17.01: to this day we receive regular enquiries even though the last of the line has long sold out. To improve on that base and still deliver the same outstanding value has been a challenge that has taken us through two years and four model lines to arrive at the new MING 17.06 Copper.

We are a very new brand and have been continually learning since our public debut in August 2017. We apply as much of this knowledge as possible to every new project - whether flagship or entry level. Thanks to the partnerships and experience gained since our debut, we now have access to higher grade suppliers and components across the board. This allows us to offer a watch whose every element has been comprehensively improved from previous iterations.

The 17.06 presents a classical colour scheme in clean and restrained modern forms; from hour markings to case geometry. It is a considered study in textures and light: a warm etched copper dial contrasts against the polished-brushed case, multiple dial layers, and reflections off the sapphire ring from which luminous hour markers appear suspended. Polished hands are set close to the dial for minimal parallax, with just 0.3mm clearance to the crystal underside. Both dial and hands are loaded with Super-LumiNova C1 for a distinctive nocturnal signature.

It is our first series production piece offered in 316L stainless steel for added heft and wrist presence. The all-new rigid case without spacers is water resistant to 100m and constructed with an internally fixed bezel for easy assembly and service. Machining tolerances of 10 microns allow for a crisp 20 micron edge bevel and double lug holes accommodate the wearer’s choice of both straight and curved springbar straps.

Powered by a self-winding ETA 2824-2 modified to have two crown positions and regulated in five positions; assembly and quality control is now performed by La Division du Temps (a division of Schwarz-Etienne, who also manufacture our 19 series watches). Final checks on every watch are performed by the MING team in Kuala Lumpur, and the package is completed with a handmade strap by Jean Rousseau Paris and leather travel pouch hand-sewn by Studio Koji Sato.
