Description

The RGM 801-AS Aircraft Special Edition was inspired by the technical layout and colors of the Hamilton and Elgin model 37500 aircraft clocks from World War II. The 801-A brings a look and color contrast that is unique, yet visually appealing. The layout is technical, but still easy to read at a glance. This new special edition includes a hacking second feature, which stops the balance and second hand when setting the watch.

Behind the dial is RGM’s original in-house American movement: Caliber 801. Inspired by America’s great watchmaking history, the 801 has classic American bridge shapes, reminiscent of the Keystone Howard Watch Company’s “Edward Howard” model. The unique winding click in inspired by the Illinois Watch Company’s “Illini” model designed by American watchmaker Charles E. DeLong in 1918. The deep mirror polished dish and sunray finish on the winding wheels is similar to those of the Illinois “Bunn Special” and “Illini” models. Like the great railroad watches of America’s past, all 801 movements are hand built, finished, decorated, and made here in the USA, using 90%

American-made parts.
The in-house 19 jewel, 18,000 vph watch is housed in a 42mm 3 16L stainless steel brushed pilot-style case. The flat winding crown compliments the pilot aesthetic.
