Alliance 01

The inception of the Alliance 01 stemmed from a desire to embody collaboration in its truest form. A partnership where two prominent British watch brands strive to capture the spirit and principles of each, all in the name of promoting watchmaking in Britain. With a heritage of creating mechanical timepieces that date back to 1846, it's crucial to Fears, a discerning team headed up by the sixth-generation managing director, to be mindful of their lineage while simultaneously creating with tomorrow in mind. Alongside renowned fellow British brand Christopher Ward, Fears is a founding member of the Alliance of British Watch and Clock Makers, a body chaired by Roger Smith to support and promote British watch and clock-making worldwide.

Powered by the JJ01 calibre, a movement famed for its respectful democratisation of the jump-hour complication, developed by ex-master watchmaker at Christopher Ward, Johannes Jahnke

Case and dial showcase bespoke innovations, with the steel case being meticulously machined and finished to levels found with precious metals, and the dial featuring a combination of concentric guilloché, frosting, and sunburst finishes.

The Alliance 01 is a jump hour timepiece developed exclusively for members of the alliance, with 100% of the profits from the sale of all 50 pieces having gone directly to aid the promotion of horological education surrounding British watchmaking. 

This successful harmony of design and function is at the heart of the Alliance 01, with the JJ01 calibre being housed within a case developed by Fears featuring zero flat surfaces. The Burgundy Red dial is equally rich in nuance, featuring three dial techniques that are elevated by a special matte lacquer that aids its dynamism and hand-applied and finished silver rings for the hour window and chapter ring.

Fears Heritage

Edwin Fear founded the Fears Watch Company in Bristol in 1846 and remained under the family's ownership throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. However, in 1976 it closed its doors due to economic crises, remaining inactive for nearly four decades. In 2016, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, Edwin Fear's great-great-great-grandson and a Rolex-trained watchmaker, revived the family business. He became the fourth managing director of Fears, upholding the legacy of crafting effortlessly stylish watches hand-built in Britain.
