Born Watch

 
Born Watch by Speake-Marin is a highly personalised unique piece featuring an intricate bas-relief engraving – by hand on the 18k gold dial – of an animal, representing the owner’s year of birth according to the Chinese calendar.
 
The texture and relief of the animal engraving as well as the Speake-Marin name plaque at 7 o’clock contrast beautifully with the polished, heat-blued Foundation hands above, making for very legible reading of the time.
 
As befitting an incredible work of art, the dial sits in a majestic setting: A signature Speake-Marin Piccadilly case in 18k gold.
 
The highly-original celebration of the owner’s birth extends to the back of the timepiece where a depiction of the night sky – as seen at the place and in the year of the owner’s birth – is beautifully played out through an accurately-plotted constellation of Top Wesselton diamonds set in a white gold plaque.
 
While the diamonds represent scintillating stars in the constellation, the gold plaque has been carefully filled with enamel, then lapped, to symbolise the dark surroundings of the cosmos.
 
The personalisation of the Born Watch is completed by the owner’s name, date of birth and place of birth engraved into the caseback.
