COMMANDER ICÔNE
Sophisticated and captivating: an exceptional iconic piece
Exceptional due to its distinctive look and its hallmark neo-vintage, sophisticated design, this new addition to the Commander collection is without doubt a truly captivating timepiece. Entirely coated in anthracite PVD, its elegant round case has a stunning sunray satin-finished dial with orange highlights in reference to Mido’s colours. Not forgetting its Milanese mesh bracelet, integrated into the case for maximum comfort.
Usually reserved for luxury watchmaking, the heart of this Commander Icône is packed with horological innovations that are unique in its category: a COSC-certified Caliber 80 chronometer movement, featuring a silicon balance-spring that provides exceptional autonomy, offering up to 80 hours of power reserve with outstanding accuracy and shock-resistance. A host of features that will appeal to those who refuse to choose between bold design and cutting-edge technology.
Its slender, round case in satin-finished steel endows the Commander collection with an inimitable and immediately recognisable silhouette, just like the Eiffel Tower. And like this unique structure, it has withstood the effects of time to retain an eternally youthful aspect. Its exceptional lifespan is indisputable proof of its success: the Commander has been produced by Mido without interruption since 1959. It has thus spanned almost six decades, preserving the DNA that has forged its reputation. Much like Paris’s symbolic monument, the Commander has become a genuine icon, epitomising Swiss watchmaking tradition and expertise.
Entirely coated in anthracite PVD, this new Commander Icône is a perfect contemporary expression of the original model and, like its predecessor, its captivating design will leave no-one unmoved. Connoisseurs of bold and irreverent timepieces will recognise this as an exceptional timepiece. Its inimitable 42 mm round case in satin-finished steel is treated with anthracite PVD and enhanced with a faceted and polished bezel.
And in a series of references to Mido’s visual identity, it reveals a stunning sunray satin-finished anthracite dial with orange highlights on the index and hands. The maximum space given to the dial is another of the values inherited from the 1959 model. To guarantee perfect night-time readability, the indexes feature white Super-LumiNova®, as do the hour and minute hands. The second hand, varnished in orange, provides a subtle detail, while an aperture at 3 o’clock indicates the day and date. The satin-finished, stainless steel bracelet with anthracite PVD treatment has been seamlessly integrated into the case, and is easily adjusted using the sliding clasp. Made from Milanese mesh, it provides the wearer with unparalleled comfort.
Beneath its neo-vintage design, the Commander Icône conceals a movement that is at the cutting edge of watchmaking innovation. It is fitted with the Caliber 80 Si, a COSC-certified chronometer movement featuring a silicon balance-spring. Essential in luxury watchmaking, this component offers far greater long-term accuracy than a standard balance-spring and improved resistance to magnetic fields and impacts. This latest-generation calibre also gives it formidable autonomy: up to 80 hours of power reserve. Decorated with blued screws and an oscillating weight adorned with Geneva stripes and the Mido logo, this chronometer movement can be admired through the transparent case back. The Commander Icône is water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bars (50 m / 165 ft).
A fully stainless steel version, entirely coated in yellow gold PVD, is also available.
