Technical Specificities
Each piece leverages the artistic craft to achieve an extreme fineness and finish within the constraints of watchmaking.
- Technique from a compact powder mirror also called “mirror finish”, which increases the light tenfold, illuminating the inset motifs.
- Contemporary use of hematite which sublimates the sparkle of the diamonds
- Three-dimensional sculpting within 1.7 mm (space between the watch face and the hands)
Épure TOURBILLON VITIS
Épure Tourbillon Vitis is unlike any other watch, both inside and out.
In addition to its extraordinary vine leaf design, with its intricate web of veins, this timepiece continually amazes with its ability to achieve the impossible.
Take, for example, the mother-of-pearl craftsmanship – the bunch of grapes is created from just one piece of mother-of-pearl sculpted into many tiny grapes.
Above all, it is the engraved flying tourbillon that sets this timepiece apart from all the others in the ÉPURE D’Art line.
The flying tourbillon was invented in the 19th century and is one of the most complex and renowned watch-making complications in the world.
This mechanism, which allows the cage to rotate freely as if by magic, is incredibly accurate and is used by only the most skilled watchmakers.
Épure Tourbillon Vitis is unusual in that the movement is engraved and set in the back of the watch with stunning depictions of 26 Place Vendôme (Boucheron’s legendary address) and the square’s famous column. It is decorated with 19 jewels and the hour and minute display is positioned at 1 o’clock, a subtle reference to the location of the Maison Boucheron on the square.
The front of the watch is decorated with fine white gold vine shoots that echo the tourbillon’s spirals.
Artists have always used the vine as a decorative motif and Boucheron continues the tradition with this timepiece. However, the vine also symbolizes love, friendship and solidarity. By combining the vine and its fruit, Boucheron also represents fruitfulness, youth and eternity.
