Description
GEO.GRAHAM THE MOON Geo.Graham The Moon combines an historical watchmaking feat in the shape of the tourbillon with that of a truly unique, retrograde moon--phase function the cycle of which has been calculated on the moon's exact synodic period. At the end of each synodic period, the retrograde mechanism will make the moon jump back to the beginning of a new moon--phase cycle. A synodic period is the time required for a body within the solar system to return to the same position relative to the Sun as seen by an observer on the Earth. The Moon's synodic period (time between successive recurrences of the same phase; e.g. between full moon and full moon), also called synodic month, was discovered and calculated by Copernic. It equals 29 days, 12 hours and 44 minutes. Once correctly set, this precision moonphase will require adjustment only once every 122 years. Constellations are represented on the dial by 45 diamonds 0.24 cts (bezel: 11 diamonds, dial: 34 diamonds) :Constellations (Camelopardalis, Perseus, Cassiopeia, Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Polaris)
