H²0 by HYT

For the H²0 timepiece, HYT turned back the pages of history books millenniums rather than centuries. The inspiration for this watch’s unique time-measuring approach is rooted in 4,000 year-old Clepsydras, or water clocks. These visualized time’s passage through the transportation of water from one vessel to another, as opposed to focusing on one moment in isolation. This commitment to presenting and honoring the transition of time dictates the distinctive, transparent design language of the H²0.

Science, horology, art and esthetics merge in a timepiece that offers a totally new perspective on horology. This is achieved through innovation in two principle spheres – visual and technical. The H²0 has a striking three-dimensional appearance, mirroring its positioning in a contemporary world characterized by radical new dimensions, ranging from 3D entertainment to artificial intelligence. The watch’s shape resembles a smoothed stone that has weathered time unblemished. A cloche-like sapphire crystal reveals time’s progress from a refreshingly different side-view.

The angled placement of the two rhodium-plated bellows in the patented HYT micro-fluidic module is another expression of HYT’s fascination with the relative context of time and space. Reinforcing this key concept are hands and sculpted numbers that seem to float while physically being firmly anchored in Swiss precision. This carefully curated look and feel provides the perfect context for a third millennium watch to forge the link with modernity.

Technically speaking, the H²0 represents the successful conclusion of a challenging adventure. It has the capacity to defy gravity in its measurement of the passage of time using fluids. A colored liquid records recently elapsed time, while clear liquid symbolizes the time lying immediately ahead. The meeting point of the two substances is the precious now. A mechanical movement, created with APRP for exclusive use, sets the rhythm and brings the energy to move the liquids. This 28-jewel caliber integrates microblasted titanium bridges, black DLC coating and satin finishes, as well as a power reserve of 192 hours. Seamless transmission between the mechanical movement and fluidic module takes place via the conversion of rotation into linear motion using a cam-follower system. A jumping minute hand and a flange made from one piece of metal add to the portfolio of expertise. Detail quite literally counts.
