Maestro GC Sport Clay
Power reserve: 50 h, 28800 vph
In March 2023, Gerald Charles introduced the Maestro GC Sport Clay, Ref. GC2.0-TX-TN-08, in a limited edition of 200 pieces.
To strengthen Gerald Charles close relationship with the world of tennis and to capture the spirit of the clay court tennis season, the Maison delivered the Maestro GC Sport Clay. One of the few watches tested and worn on court by some ATP professional athletes, such as Hubert Hurkacz, Jenson Brooksby and Tim Van Rijthoven, it is a high-performance sport and elegant watch with a robust case construction and above 5G shock-resistant ultra-thin movement. Despite the extraordinary stress it experienced during a professional tennis match, it came through testing unaffected.
The GC Sport Clay, with the Maestro case inspired by 17th century baroque architecture by the Swiss-born Italian architect Francesco Borromini, is crafted in polished Grade 5 titanium, a material that's as hard as steel, but 40 per cent lighter, and difficult to achieve the result of this mirror-polished finishing. It is indeed a lightweight watch of only 50 grams ca, with a 39x41.7mm case and 8.7mm of thickness.
To ensure a perfect wearability during sporty activities, the GC Sport Clay features a screw-down crown, that has been moved on the left side of the case to reduce the impact on the wrist during play, and a soft 3mm chocolate brown vulcanised rubber strap with Clou de Paris motif, an original design from Mr. Gérald Charles Genta. The Gerald Charles engineers worked for the development of a special ergonomics for the watch, which allows to sit flat on the wrist, as the lugs, the caseback and the strap sit on the same line with a perfect adherence on the wrist.
The Maestro GC Sport Clay has a fading russet-colored dial to evoke the red powder of clay courts which lightens as it nears the centre, mirroring the way clay courts fade during a tournament. This artisanal, textured finish is achieved by taking a specially grained dial base and applying color and a clear, shiny coating to it. This creates the three-dimensional effect that echoes the irregular playing surface of clay. Some sections are left flat for the logo, minute track and Swiss Made indication.
The ultra-thin automatic movement, Ref. GCA 3002, developed in partnership with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, is just 3.7mm thick and its bridges are finished with the Côtes de Genève pattern. The timepiece, with a screw-down crown which ensures 10 ATM (100 meters) water resistance, delivers 50 hours of power reserve from a twin-barrel system and incorporates an Incabloc® anti-shock system.
This elegant and sporty timepiece is a perfect watch that can be worn on every occasion.
