Chopard’s latest creation takes the form of an extraordinary pendant watch, conceived as a precious walnut. Entirely crafted in-house, this singular piece showcases the Maison’s mastery of both jewellery and watchmaking, while continuing the creative legacy of the Animal World collection imagined by Caroline Scheufele – Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director.
This mysterious walnut is crafted in 18-carat ethical rose gold set with brown and cognac diamonds, then finished with a patina that lends the creation striking realism. A bespoke hidden hinge, released by a cognac diamond, allows the walnut to open, revealing a moonphase watch powered by an in-house self-winding movement. Displaying the hours, minutes and moonphase, the dial is framed by blued titanium and diamonds, with a sapphire-set crown positioned at 12 o’clock. An integrated sliding mechanism enables the display to be angled for optimal legibility, while the moonphase corrector remains discreetly concealed. When deployed, the display reveals the word “PEACE” engraved on both sides, expressing the creation’s central message.
The opposite half-shell presents a three-dimensional jewelled scene. Against a backdrop of blued guilloché titanium, a diamond-set dove carrying an olive branch takes flight, surrounded by diamonds that appear to float in space thanks to an ingenious setting technique. Fine diamond guipure, a signature of Chopard’s jewellery savoir-faire, creates a lace-like effect around the composition, while heart motifs subtly reference one of the Maison’s most cherished symbols, reinforcing a message of peace, hope and harmony.
The pendant watch is presented on a sumptuous sautoir crafted in 18-carat ethical rose gold, set with nearly 430 carats of brown, cognac and yellow briolette-cut diamonds cascading in a richly textured composition, reminiscent of tree bark.
