Oris expands its movement production capacity with the launch of the Calibre 111

Oris is very proud to introduce Calibre 111, a watch powered by a movement developed in-house that marks the next phase in Oris’s rebirth as a movement innovator. Calibre 111 is the next chapter in Oris’s remarkable history, and follows the launch of Calibre 110, a unique movement developed by Oris for the company’s 110th anniversary.

In 2014, three and half decades on from the launch of its last in- house calibre and the year of its 110th anniversary, Oris unveiled Calibre 110, a hand-wound movement with a unique combination of complications. Its 10-day power reserve and non-linear power reserve indicator, delivered through a single barrel, solidified Oris’s reputation as an innovator, and also announced to the world that the independent Swiss watch company was back in the business of developing movements from the ground up again.

New for 2015, Calibre 111 continues the story. In recent years, Oris has invested heavily in resources that will help re-establish its proud watchmaking tradition, giving it the scope to industrialise the watchmaking process. Calibre 110 was limited in production to 220 pieces – Calibre 111 components are manufactured with individual tools in larger series in cooperation with the most advanced micro-technical enterprises in Switzerland.

There will be four versions of the Calibre 111. The 10-day power reserve and non-linear power reserve indicators have been carried over from Calibre 110, as have the 43mm case and the stainless steel and 18-carat rose gold case material options. The major difference between Calibre 110 and Calibre 111 is the addition of a date function.

Each of the models has two different dials. The stainless steel model is available either with a silver-grey or a sunray black-gold dial. The rose-gold model features either an opaline silver-gold or a maroon dial.
All four watches have sapphire crystal glasses and case backs, and are water-resistant to 3 bar/30 metres. The 18-carat rose gold model will be available on a brown or grey crocodile leather strap; the stainless steel version will come on either a black crocodile leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet. All four will be delivered in October 2015.
