HARBOR

“The story behind the diamond watch of the 21st century”

Since the appearance of humankind, time was already there. Many definitions try to help us understand this abstract notion. While time itself is a constant, its perception in our minds is continuously in flux – a year can pass in a second while a minute can seem eternal. It is probably the most valuable real or abstract resource there is.

Nowadays, when luxury has explored all possible and imaginable forms of materials expression, what luxury do we lack? Isn’t time the great contemporary luxury, as suggested in literature?

Inspired by the phrase “the only jewel a man can wear is a watch”, Jonathan Charles Jaquet created an avant-garde timepiece as its physical representation. The architecture of the case finds its quintessence in the shape of a diamond, a miracle of nature that originates from something as profane as coal. Diamond comes from the ancient Greek meaning invincible or unchangeable and is often related to eternity.

TYPE-2

The TYPE-2 collection presents timepieces that serve as a canvas for the most exquisite craftsmanship, combining in all its creations unequalled know-how and technical prowess. The hand engraving of the ProtoType-2 is a true three-dimensional masterpiece with an extreme finesse of details. Completely covered with a design made in collaboration with the contemporary artist Francisco Morales Dufour, the watch draws its power from its genuine appearance and its intensity from the precise craftsmanship.

The highly artistical case houses an equally sophisticated automatic manufacture movement, fully developed and conceived by HARBOR. It features a self-winding gold micro-rotor and an oscillating balance wheel with four weights. A golden pendulum bridge reinforces the almost hypnotic fascination of the regulating organ. The see-through case-back entirely discloses the magic of the inner engineering of the jumping hour. Adding to the complexity of the piece, the rare vertical display of the time underlines the confident character it evokes.

The homogeneity of the piece is underlined by an engraved bracelet, which in itself is a piece of art. A true symbiosis of fine watchmaking expertise and jeweler ingenuity, this timepiece goes beyond what was thought to be possible in the watchmaking paradigm.

HARBOR – a different perspective of time.
