Rondo 42 Peony
Power reserve: 72 h, 28800 vph
This unique timepiece showcases the expertise that we have acquired in working with Grand Feu enamelling. For this piece, we drew our inspiration from the haiku, a highly stylized form of Japanese poetry. The poet Kiichi wrote:
“Then the peonies
Extinguishing all others
Opened their petals”
The plique-à-jour peony is delicately placed inside an empty black space and appears to float on the surface of the dial. Technically, black enamel is one of the most difficult enamels to obtain and work with. It requires unique expertise and a great deal of patience to obtain a perfectly pure surface.
By combining the two techniques of Plique-à-jour and Paillon, we have been able to compose a peony flower on a black enamel dial set with a dozen yellow sapphires. The 42 mm white gold case is set with 185 diamonds. The crown is also decorated with a diamond. This magnificent timepiece features an automatic movement and a bracelet with a white gold deployment buckle set with 24 diamonds. The watch boasts some six carats of diamonds in all.
This watch, like all our creations, is a unique timepiece.
