SHEHERAZADE NUIT: Mythical Orient

Who was Sheherazade? She is the main character in the book One Thousand and One Nights. In Persian tradition, women are the storytellers, including Scheherazade herself. She is the well-read, well-bred daughter of the Grand Vizier. The king of Persia, Shahryar, was sad and tormented; his beloved wife has been unfaithful and for punishment he had her beheaded. Filled of a terrible rage, he vows to marry a new virgin every day and have her head chopped off in following morning. To stop the bloodshed, Scheherazade offers herself as a volunteer and during the first night she adopts a strategy that will spare her life. She tells the king a story that never ends by morning. Aroused by curiosity and charmed by her tales, he allows her to live one day at a time until the thousandth and one night when the King abandons his resolution and marries her.

Boucheron has always nurtured a powerful aesthetic relationship with the Orient, especially Persia. It was therefore only natural that Boucheron should celebrate the Orient's most mythical character with a jewel to her name.

Sheherazade Nuit is an exceptional piece characterized by a particular attention to details which mixes goldsmith art, gem setting and ornaments of precious stone in a predominantly dark blue (one thousand and one nights, starry night, the crescent moon...) that reincarnated the Mythical Orient.
