Description

Defying the oceans with its legendary and iconic model Winch Tourbillon Vertical, the earth with the Cabestan Ferrari model, and finally the geometric laws with the Trapezium, the creation of the new Cabestan house is now facing the sky and stars by presenting its new model: Terra Luna, a real window towards the moon.

Terra Luna is the result of Eric Coudray’s imagination, Master watchmaker renowned and genius of the brand identity. He signs a superb achievement by combining the typical technology of vertical capstan wheels, chain and fuse, with a sumptuous moon phase in 3-dimensions.  By this additional complication, the knowledge and the mechanical exclusive creation are highlighting the potential of the brand.

This exceptional piece is composed of a mechanical hand-wound movement: caliber CAB EC 102L, with 46 rubies. The mechanism indicates the hours, minutes, seconds and power reserve by drums, one of the characteristic brand identity. The time is semi-jumping for easier reading, and the moon phase, meanwhile, is at the center of the movement and is represented by a sphere of 7.40 mm diameter.

The torque is transmitted from the drum barrel to the fuse via a chain. This construction allows a constant torque transmission throughout the power reserve (72 hours), ensuring greater accuracy in the measurement of time.

The regulating component is composed of a vortex with a sprung balance which has a frequency of 3Hz making one rotation per minute. The spiral has a Breguet terminal curve type and a peak of Geneva, as well as a curve at the center of angle type.

The middle part is made of titanium and the winding and time-setting are made by two distinct crowns. A third marker allows the setting of the moon.

The sapphire crystal in giant screen is facing the sky, and allows us to observe the mechanism of the watch and more particularly the 3D moon, as do astronomers for their observatories.
