Description

Collaboration between BOVET and the Pininfarina design House began in 2010 to mark the 80th anniversary of the Italian icon. On this occasion BOVET developed and manufactured the Tourbillon Ottanta® which won immediate acclaim and a clutch of awards. Joined by the Chronographe Cambiano in 2011, the collection is enhanced this year by the Tourbillon Ottanta Due.

Once again this new timepiece is the fruit of an exclusive development. The Ottanta Due follows the same aesthetic blueprint as its two predecessors. The design of the bow, two flat bezels, the shape of the hands and its rubber strap are distinctive features of this elegant and sporty collection. For the third time, watchmakers at the DIMIER manufactory have developed the movement's potential for expression by deploying multiplying combinations of surface finish and coloration.

All comparisons with its predecessors stop here however. Indeed this second tourbillon in the collection features every innovation developed by the master watchmakers of DIMIER 1738, Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Artisanale. The tourbillon carriage has been extended to a diameter of 13.50mm and is located at 6 o'clock, its revolutions rated to sixty seconds so that it can carry the seconds-hand, completing the indications of hours, minutes and seven-day power reserve on this first face of the timepiece. Because, naturally, the Ottanta Due features the AMADEO® case which allows the timepiece to be converted into a table clock, a pocket watch or a reversible wristwatch without the need for any tools whatsoever. This versatility means that the timepiece can be worn with either face displayed, since the movement also incorporates the now famous reversed hand-fitting showing the time on an additional offset dial, leaving deserved space for the remarkable mechanical architecture of this third collaboration.
Elegant and sporty, the Ottanta Due, enhanced by an 18-carat red gold case, clearly expresses its affinity with a collection that has already made its mark with only three models to its name! A fact that augers well for the future fruits of this collaboration.
