ETHEREAL OPENWORK TOURBILLON

A marriage of art, mathematics, and craftsmanship

Born from a passion for beauty, the Tourbillon B 1.618 Openwork for men is the result of three years of work and fine-tuning from a creative team combining Italian, French and Swiss talents. The very first model of Bianchet reflects the house’s vision of fine watchmaking and its desire to embody beauty, strength and elegance.

A design based on the mathematics of harmony

The architecture of Bianchet’s first in-house skeleton tourbillon caliber B 1.618 has been inspired by the work of Italian mathematician Fibonacci on the golden ratio 1.618, which played an important role in Bianchet founders’ story. Nested in an elegant tonneau case, the movement is revealed through sculptural titanium plates and bridges, in a game of transparency and geometrical overlays. The three-dimensional design composed of interlacing arches and circles is based on Fibonacci’s golden proportions and conveys a deep sense of harmony.

A tribute to Swiss fine craftsmanship

Sophisticated milling processes and hand finishings, requiring a high level of craftsmanship skills, are necessary to shape the intertwined openwork plates and bridges, made from a highly inflammable titanium alloy. The complication of the movement comes from the superposition of structural and esthetic elements conceived to create a both ethereal and strong openwork architecture.

The movement plates and bridges, wheels and titanium tourbillon cage, as well as the watch case, are crafted and manufactured by Bianchet, in the heart of the Swiss Jura mountains. Every Bianchet watch is entirely made and hand-finished in Switzerland.

When high-craft meets hi-tech

Designed to be a multi-purpose watch, the Tourbillon B 1.618 Openwork offers lightness and robustness. Providing 110 hours of power reserve, it can resist shocks of up to 6000G and is therefore suitable for sports activities. The slightly curved 54-gram tonneau case features a complex ergonomic construction, which is underlined by two thin lines of soft vulcanized rubber, thus offering a unique and sensuous horological experience.
