Description

The “Tribute to Fes” is equipped with a full-calendar automatic movement beating at 28,800 vph. This 40mm timepiece comes with a fabric/velcro strap as well as an additional leather strap and a pin buckle. Rather than bringing the conversation around the measurement of time and chronometry, Magana wants its message to revolve around the value given to time, as a limited commodity. Indeed, if we have an average of 1,000 minutes of waking time daily, Magana suggests to its audience to ask the question: Why did I take time for today? Becoming aware of how we spend our time, and with whom, will allow everyone to use time in a useful, intelligent and thoughtful way. Sold exclusively online on the brand's website, the watch and brand are supposed to embody what the founder calls the UAE's values: Culture, a celebration of all human cultures, Cohesion, because coming together allows miracles, and Mindfulness, being aware of others makes the world a better place. Born in the United Arab Emirates, the brand aims to offer qualitative mechanical watchmaking, with a useful complication at a reasonable price. Designed with Modern Urban Nomads in mind, the watch remains classic while having an instantly recognizable look and style. The 316L Stainless Steel case is treated with a 1 micron DLC coating and has a multi-layered dial. The grainy part of the dial in the center is a tribute to the walls of the thousand-year-old city, while the light blue color of the seconds hand pays tribute to the city of Fez, Morocco. The story is best told in the watch's unique packaging, which comes in the form of a Coffee table book, encouraging a second life to the item, thus avoiding clutter or waste.

Sustainability

From inception, Magana has built in its DNA a founding and deeply human element, which goes beyond the product and is in line with a great issue of our time, namely sustainability. Designing and manufacturing a durable watch is an extraordinary challenge that is very difficult to overcome, especially for a newcomer. Thus, Magana is instead committed to "Trees for the Future", an American NGO that aims to develop the "Green Belt" of Africa. It is a project that aims to plant 1.5 billion trees in sub-Saharan Africa – from Senegal to Somalia – and at the same time support farmers and landowners to help them fight desertification, climate change, the impoverishment of arable land while promoting the education and financial independence of African women. For every watch sold, Magana commits to funding the planting of 212 trees as part of this program.
