With a resolutely sporty character
Carbon fibre motifs on a tricolour case: an avant-garde sporty design for a complication bearing the "Geneva Seal"
Jérôme de Witt wanted to position the latest creations of the Manufacture in Vandoeuvres in the "sporty" trend which is the keynote of the year 2006. By opting for a resolutely luxury and contemporary design, he proves that there is no reason whatever why a complicated timepiece should not be worn by a watch lover when he is playing his favourite sport. He refashioned one of the beacon models of the Academia collection, the "Geneva Seal" Perpetual Calendar, by endowing it with a sporty and contemporary character. For this exceptional calibre, he revisited the Academia case with its now famous "Imperial Columns" motif by enhancing it with gold, titanium and rubber and proposing dials with carbon fibre and Kevlar fibre motifs.

The "Perpetual Calendar" complication guarantees automatic correction of the date, regardless of the number of days in a month and whether or not it is a leap year. The Academia Perpetual Calendar features a DW 7001 mechanical self-winding movement, manufactured in Vandoeuvres and stamped with the Geneva Seal. It comprises a retrograde hand counter for the days at 9 o'clock and for the date at 3 o'clock while the months and years, together with a leap year indication, are indicated in a counter at 12 o'clock. The moon phase is revealed in an aperture at 6 o'clock. This remarkable movement, entirely decorated and fitted with a 21K gold micro-rotor engine-turned by hand, features a 52-hour power reserve and can be admired through a transparent case back protected by a sapphire crystal.

Red gold further enhances the matte alliance of titanium and rubber of the Academia Sport case on the outer rings of the bezel and case back. It is also featured as an aesthetic reminder in the strap attachment screws and at the heart of the crown stamped with the symbol W. The dial centre is decorated with a carbon fibre motif in which the alternation of brilliant black and matte black makes play with light, while the hour circle is silvered with an engine-turned wave motif.
The new Sport model is worn on an intense black rubber strap with the "Imperial Columns" motif stamped in the material and closed by a titanium folding clasp.
The DeWitt Quantième Perpétuel Academia Sport is made in a limited series of 50 pieces for each model. Each watch is numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Mr Jérôme de Witt in person.

Le Quantième Perpétuel Academia est équipé d'un mouvement mécanique à remontage automatique, DW7001, manufacturé à Vandoeuvres et estampillé du Poinçon de Genève. Il propose un compteur à aiguille rétrograde pour les jours à 9 heures et pour les dates à 3 heures, alors que l'affichage des mois et des années avec indication des années bissextiles est réalisé dans un compteur situé à 12 heures. La phase de lune se dévoile quant à elle dans un guichet à 6 heures. Ce mouvement d'exception, entièrement décoré et équipé d'un micro-rotor en or 21K guilloché à la main, offre une réserve de marche de 52 heures et se laisse admirer au travers d'un fond transparent protégé par une glace saphir. (AC.7002.28A.M712) L'or rouge rehausse l'alliance mate du titane et du caoutchouc de la boîte Sport Academia sur les bagues extérieures de la lunette et du fond. Il est de même utilisé en rappel esthétique dans les vis d'attaches du bracelet et au coeur de la couronne frappé du symbole W. Le centre du cadran est décoré d'un motif fibre de carbone dont l'alternance du noir brillant et du noir mat se joue de la lumière alors que le tour des heures est argenté avec un motif de guillochage en vague. Ce nouveau modèle Sport se portent sur un bracelet caoutchouc noir intense, frappé dans la masse des motifs "Colonnes Impériales", fermé par une boucle déployante en titane. Le Quantième Perpétuel Academia Sport DeWitt est réalisé en série limitée de 50 pièces par modèle.
